Saskatoon Mover Finder is a referral service, not a moving company. We connect you with an independent local moving company, and moving companies pay us for that.

Movers in Saskatoon: common questions

Is this a moving company's website?

No. This site is a referral service that passes your call to an independent local moving company, which quotes, books and does the move. Moving companies pay us to receive these calls; see how this site works.

How much do movers cost in Saskatoon?

Published figures put an average of about $139 an hour with a two-hour minimum (one national moving company's Saskatoon guide, August 2025), and a moving marketplace's lowest listed rate was $165 an hour for two movers and a truck (checked November 2026), before taxes and fees. The national company's guide gives $890 to $1,460 for a two-bedroom move with three movers. Get a written estimate. See moving costs.

How do I spot a moving scam?

The Competition Bureau warns about a low price with promises of "no surprise fees", quotes or contracts given only over the phone, and a paper copy you can only sign on moving day. The Office of Consumer Affairs adds no physical address, a large deposit upfront, and no listing with the Canadian Association of Movers or the Better Business Bureau.

Which moving company will I be talking to?

An independent moving company in the Saskatoon area. Ask for the company's name and address on the call, before you book. If nobody can pick up, leave a message and it's passed on.

What should a written moving estimate include?

The costs, terms and conditions of your move, on company letterhead and signed by someone from the company, says the Office of Consumer Affairs. It also says to check that the quote covers the number of boxes, the size and value of items, the cost, payment terms, the time of the service and the delivery date. Ask about surcharges, extra fees and coverage, and whether a deposit is refundable.

Can a mover charge more than the estimate in Saskatchewan?

Saskatchewan's Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority lists charging a price substantially higher than an estimate as an unfair practice under The Consumer Protection and Business Practices Act, unless the consumer expressly agreed to the higher price in advance. Keep the written estimate.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Some movers ask for one. The Office of Consumer Affairs says to ask whether a deposit is refundable or kept as a cancellation penalty, and lists a large deposit upfront as a warning sign. This site never takes payment from callers: you pay the moving company directly.

Are my things covered if the movers damage them?

Only as far as the coverage you have. The Office of Consumer Affairs says that without the mover's replacement value protection, a mover's liability is generally $0.60 per pound ($1.32 per kg) per item. Ask what the mover offers, in writing, and check your home insurance.

What if movers won't unload until I pay more?

Don't sign a new contract or agree to a higher price under pressure. In Saskatchewan, charging substantially more than an estimate without your advance agreement is listed as an unfair practice. The Competition Bureau describes holding belongings until you pay more as a rogue mover tactic and says to report it to the Canada Anti-Fraud Centre, the Competition Bureau or your local police. It also suggests complaining to the Better Business Bureau or your provincial consumer protection agency.

Where can I complain about a moving company in Saskatchewan?

Start with the moving company, in writing. If that fails, the Consumer Protection Division of the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority has a free online Consumer Rights pathway to check your dispute, and you can file a formal dispute through Resolve My Consumer Dispute. Call (306) 787-5550 or toll-free (877) 880-5550, or email [email protected].

This site has a generic name and no address. Should I be worried?

It's a fair question, because the Office of Consumer Affairs lists no physical address as a warning sign for movers. This site is a referral service run by Derek Kress in Alberta, not a moving company, so it has no depot or address. The checks still apply to the moving company that answers: get its name and address, and look it up before you book.

Has this site checked the moving company?

Don't rely on this site for that. We don't rank, rate or recommend moving companies, and we don't do or guarantee the move. While no moving company is taking calls, we choose which local company gets your message. That isn't a recommendation. Ask the mover for its full name and address, and check its reviews and Better Business Bureau listing yourself, as the Competition Bureau and the Office of Consumer Affairs suggest.

Is my call recorded?

Yes. Every call starts with a short message saying the call is recorded and transcribed so the shop has your job details. Messages are recorded and transcribed too. See privacy and call recording for who sees them and how long they're kept.
